From the North: From the A1, take the A59 to York. At York North Ring Road (A1237), turn left. Continue through approx 7 roundabouts, then turn right at sign “York A1036” (York Minster is clearly visible in the distance ahead). Then see * below.
From the South: From the A1, take the A64 to York. Continue on the A64 passing all the exits to York until the dual carriageway ends at the roundabout signposted Harrogate and Thirsk (left) and Scarborough (right). Keep in the lefthand lane at this roundabout, signposted: York A1036, and then left lane again following A1036 at the next roundabout.
[NB: Do not leave A64 at sign “A1036 York W (or S)” - unless you would prefer to go through the City Centre].
* Continue for 2.5 miles straight toward the Minster through another 3 roundabouts. We are 100 metres after the last roundabout, on the left just beyond the Brigadier Gerard Public House: look for the blue on white “City Guest House” sign.
On foot from York Station
Turn left immediately as you leave the station. At the first set of traffic lights, carry straight on. Follow the footpath around to the left, which will take you over the river Ouse. Directly in front you will see the Minster. Take the foot street all the way around the right hand side of the Minster, and on into Goodramgate. Bearing left again, go out through the city gate at Monkgate Bar, and carry straight ahead along Monkgate for a further 250 yards. We are located on the right hand side of the street, at 68 Monkgate, YO317PF.
